Create your perfect Data Entry resume
Tailor a job-specific resume and cover letter for every application.
Sample resumes
One resume per career level, each written with Specific Resume and tailored to one job posting. The people are fictional, and the employers are real companies used as examples.
Three data entry resumes: an entry-level data entry clerk in nonprofit healthcare, a mid-level data entry worker in discount retail, and a senior data entry specialist in lending fintech. Each one is tailored to one job posting. Read them here, or download any of them as a PDF.
All three follow the same layout. Key qualifications come first, so a recruiter can tick them off against the posting, then the work history, with the most detail on the latest job. In our blind test with 20 recruiters, this layout was shortlisted in 12 of 13 sessions, against 3 for a two-column template. Why this format works explains the reasoning. The people and their results are invented.
Entry-level Data Entry resume
You will not have much job history yet, so give class projects and practicum work room, especially spreadsheets, data validation, document indexing, and cleanup tasks. For each project, say what you entered or checked, the system or file type, who used it, and what improved.
Mid-level Data Entry resume
Lead with the queues and data you own, plus results tied to accuracy, speed, SLA work, and fewer exceptions or rework in your current industry tools. Drop school projects and reduce education to a single line.
Senior Data Entry resume
Lead with the workflows you run, the controls you set, and any mentoring, training, or audit readiness you own across systems like spreadsheets, case tools, and databases. Keep detail on your most recent roles and compress older jobs to a line or two.
Make one for your own posting
Each resume here was written for one posting, and yours should be too. The checklist from our blind test covers what to check before you send it.
